ScoreLens
ScoreLens reads the title off a screen you point your phone at and shows you what it scored. This page says exactly what that costs you in data — and unlike most of our apps, the honest answer is not "nothing", so it is spelled out first.
The camera
One frame leaves your device. When you take a shot, that single still is sent to our server, which passes it to the Anthropic Claude API to read the title. That is the whole reason the app works, and there is no on-device way to do it today.
The frame is not stored — not by us and not in any database. It exists for the length of the request and is discarded when the answer comes back. There is no photo library access: the app only sees the frame you deliberately capture.
What stays on your device
Your scan history. It is written to the app's own storage and never sent anywhere. Clearing it, or deleting the app, removes it completely.
What we never collect
There is no account and no sign-up, so there is nothing to attach a scan to. No analytics, no advertising, no crash reporter, no third-party SDK and no data sharing.
Third parties, and exactly what each receives
- Anthropic (Claude API) — receives the single camera frame, to read the title from it.
- OMDb API — receives the title text only, to look up the rating, year, runtime and genre. It never sees an image.
Neither receives your name, your device identifier or your history, because the app does not have them.
Children
ScoreLens is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from them.
