Decide For Us
Decide For Us helps two people settle what to eat, watch or do. Unlike a purely on-device tool, it has to keep things in one place so both of you see the same plan — so it does store data on a server. This page says exactly what, where it goes, and how to remove it.
Account
You can use the app as a guest. If you create an account, we store your email address and an account identifier. These are held by Supabase, which hosts the app's database and sign-in. Pairing with a partner links your two account identifiers so you share the same decisions, plan and journal.
What you create in the app
Decisions, votes, plans, wishlist and favourite items, anniversaries and dates you save are stored in the app's database so both partners can see them. Photos you add to the shared memory journal, and a profile picture if you set one, are stored in the app's file storage. Camera and photo-library access are used only for this.
Location
If you allow it, your location is used to suggest places near you and to look up local weather. It is sent to Google Maps / Places and OpenWeather to fetch those results, and to the app's own database when a suggestion becomes part of a saved plan. It is not used to build a movement history, and refusing location permission leaves the rest of the app working — you can type a location instead.
AI suggestions
Some features (plan ideas, the monthly recap) are generated by a language model. When you use them, the app sends a prompt built from the relevant context — for example the mood or category you picked, and the items in the plan being described — to OpenAI or Anthropic. The request is relayed through the app's own server so the API keys stay on the server; your email address is not part of the prompt. These providers process the request to produce the suggestion.
Films and shows
Titles, artwork and ratings shown in the watch features come from TMDB. Requests to TMDB carry what is being searched for, not who is searching.
Subscriptions
Purchases are handled by Apple (or Google on Android). We never see or store your card details. Subscription status is managed through RevenueCat and recorded in the app's database so your access stays in sync across devices.
Usage counts
The app keeps counters of certain in-app actions — how many plans have been generated, whether the upgrade screen has been seen — so limits and entitlements work correctly. There is no advertising network, no cross-app tracking, and no third-party analytics or crash-reporting service in the app.
Tracking
Decide For Us does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and does not share your data with data brokers or advertisers.
Deleting your data
The Profile screen has a Delete account action, available to guests as well as signed-in users, which removes your account and the data attached to it. Deleting the app alone removes only what is on the phone, so use Delete account if you want the server-side copy gone too. You can also write to the address below and we will delete it for you.
Children
Decide For Us is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If what the app collects changes, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
